I met Joe over 30 years ago when he wrote to my Dept. (Metropolitan Police - London U.K.) requesting one of our helmets for his collection. The then Commissioner (Sir Peter Imbert) passed his request to me to progress. Over the years we regularly corresponded, met in person on Long Island and London, and I was honoured to be his friend. A true gentleman, kind, considerate, warm and genuine, a good soul and someone I miss greatly. Rest in peace my friend.

I was a lector and Parish receptionist at Sacred Heart In North Merrick and served many a mass with Fr Joe. A quiet gentleman to many but had a wonderful sense of humor not seen by all. I know Our Lord welcomed his faithful servant home.

Father Joseph J. D’Angelo was a multi-faceted pious individual whom my wife and I enjoyed the company of.
He gave his life in the service as a caring shepherd of the flock of the Lord and we will remember him that way.
May he rest in peace.

I have known Father Joe many years as he was a member of the Federation of Fire Chaplains, which was not mentioned in his obituary. I would often visit him when I would be back East on vacation. He was a kind and gentle Priest of God and always available when needed for some direction. At our annual FFC meeting in Atlanta a number of years past he gave a presentation on the trauma of those working at the World Trade Center attack. He loved his Firefighters and Police Officers and was always ready and willing to give counsel and advice. I shall miss him as a friend. May he be at peaceful rest in the arms of God and in the company of the angels and saints, especially St. Florian - patron of Firefighters and St. Michael - patron of Police Offices. We will take it from here, Chaplain !
