Getting Started
When a death occurs, most families don’t know where to begin. For those who are left behind, finding important documents and planning for funeral or memorial services during a time of loss is very difficult. At Charles O’Shea Funeral Homes, we have established a 3-step process to help you plan ahead, eliminating the stress placed upon your loved ones at the time of need.
Step 1: Gathering information
At O’Shea Funeral Home, we offer the Personal Planning Guide as a complimentary service to families in our community. The Personal Planning Guide provides a central place for you to gather your important information and documents such as vital statistics, military records, life insurance policies, social security benefits and more.
In addition, the Personal Planning Guide allows you to make note of your final funeral and cemetery wishes, giving those left behind peace of mind in knowing they are honoring your wishes as well as eliminating the need for stressful decisions at a time of grief.
Step 2: Selecting services and merchandise
When a person is faced with the loss of a loved one, making decisions about funeral and cemetery arrangements is difficult and painful. One of the greatest gifts you can offer your loved ones is pre-planning your funeral. Pre-planning assures your loved ones that the service will reflect your personal beliefs, standards and lifestyle, and allow them to focus on what’s important - remembering and celebrating a life well lived.
The funeral directors at the O’Shea Funeral Homes can guide you through the service and merchandise choices that will need to be made at the time of need. Your wishes will be noted and placed on file.
Step 3: Payment arrangements
To provide the ultimate peace of mind for both you and your loved ones, consider pre-paying for funeral and cemetery arrangements. By setting up an advanced funeral plan, you lock in today’s prices for services needed in the future. An advanced funeral plan allows you to pre-pay for services and merchandise, eliminating the financial burden from loved ones at the time of need.
At O’Shea Funeral Homes, pre-paid funeral arrangements are placed in a trust account held by the Cooperative Funeral Fund. These trusts are revocable unless the person is on SSI or applying for Medicaid. The trust is then irrevocable. Either way, the trust is always transferable should you move.
