Kathy and I attended Brooklyn College in the early 60’s. We were in the sorority, Kappa Delta. We shared many memories over the years. We’ve maintained contact until her passing. At the start of Covid, six Kappa Delta’s began meeting each Tuesday at 5 pm on Zoom. I so enjoyed Kathy’s intellect and dry wit. She was such a sweet presence in my life. She had a strong faith. She loved and enjoyed her family. I will miss her terribly. Rest in peace, Kathy.

I thought it strange when Kathy invited me to drive out to Westhampton Beach to meet her dad who lived right off the beach. She wasn't one to share casually or formerly any of her personal life. The picture at the top of this page looks exactly like the walkway from his home to the beach.. I was introduced and after a few brief questions he disappeared leaving us to whatever fun we might be up to. The nature of our relationship was more intellectual than fun-loving unless you enjoyed irony and sarcasm and whimsy. You had to be well-read to keep up a conversation with Kathy O.....my nickname for her was Cobra! In our 50 year journey, I only just learned her actual first name was Kathleen; she never corrected me.

I will never forget meeting Ms. O’Brien at the St. Mary’s carnival many years ago. She was such a kind, gracious person. May her memory live on.

We are so deeply sorry for your loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone at this time . Mrs. O’Brien was so thoughtful always sending a Christmas card every year to our family . She will be greatly missed and may she rest in peace with God , Jesus, Mary, all the saints and angels.
