Obituary
James Pollock also known as Jimmy, a beloved Vietnam veteran, locksmith, and dedicated community member, passed away on May 24, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He will be remembered fondly for his remarkable life and the impact he made on those around him.
Born and raised in Astoria, Jimmy lived a fulfilling and purposeful life. His journey began when he bravely served his country during the Vietnam War, demonstrating unwavering dedication and courage. After returning home, he channeled his passion for fixing things into a successful career as a locksmith, earning the trust and admiration of the community.
For an impressive 35 years, Jimmy served as a superintendent in Astoria, devoting his time and expertise to maintaining the building and ensuring the well-being of those he served. He approached his role with utmost professionalism and a genuine care for the residents, becoming a pillar of support for many.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Jimmy found solace in simple pleasures. He cherished dining at his favorite places, Bel-Air and Friendly's, where he enjoyed good meals and created countless cherished memories. In the company of his beloved wife, he found comfort and joy while indulging in their favorite shows, creating a bond that stood the test of time.

One of Jimmy's passions was listening to 50s music, which brought him immense happiness and allowed him to relive cherished moments of his youth. His love for the music of that era was infectious, and he often shared his enthusiasm with family and friends.
Moreover, Jimmy actively served his community as the President of the 114th Civilian Observation Patrol alongside his family. His commitment to making a difference and fostering a safe environment for everyone was commendable, leaving an indelible mark on the community he held dear.
Jimmy will forever be remembered as a dedicated and compassionate individual who touched the lives of many. His legacy of service, resilience, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Pollock, his children Peter, Frances, Laura, his 6 grandchildren Xavier, Lucas, Sebastian, Ryan, Raeanna, Spiro, and a multitude of friends and acquaintances who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Friends, family, and all those whose lives were touched by Jimmy are invited to join in remembering and honoring this remarkable man.
