SULLIVAN – Mary Anne (Merrigan) born May 9, 1936 died on February 11, 2023. She was a New Yorker through and through – from the Bronx to Manhattan to Queens to her beloved Port Washington where she and her husband Jack Sullivan (died 2007) raised their family. Mary Anne had a passion for family, education, and travel. She went everywhere, from Germany in her 20’s to Nepal in her 70’s, including multiple visits to Italy and a memorable cross-county family adventure. She loved the beach, especially Heather Hills. Mary Anne’s dedicated teaching career was primarily educating 4th graders. Staff, students, and families adored her. She furthered her own post-retirement education with weekly classes at Fordham at 60 and more travel. Mary Anne is survived by brothers Jim and Bob Merrigan. She was the devoted mother of Susan (Glenn), Karen (James), Kelly, and John (Ellie) and beloved grandmother (Emmae) of Katie & Ryan Garry and Kieran, Dylan, & Riley Dennis. Family will receive friends Tuesday, 3-7pm, at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Homes, 603 Wantagh Ave. (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, 9:30 am, at St. Peter of Alcantara R.C. Church in Port Washington, NY.
