I’m hurt to my core to find this out. I worked with Josh for years and he was like a bratty little brother that loves to bust my b****. I can count on one hand the times that he wasn’t in a good mood. He was always filled with light and laughter even when he wasn’t in the highest of spirits. Super loyal to his family friends and coworkers, he would go out of his way to be of service to his fellow human. The world is a little dimmer in your absence. You’ll be missed my friend.
Rest in power.

Josh was a warrior spirit. Bravely conquering set back after set back with his unrelenting positivity and wicked sharp sense of humor. He fought to transform himself again and again, always striving to be better. This self carved arsenal not only allowed Josh's sensitive soul to survive but his warrior spirit continually inspired others around him to be the best versions of themselves.
No one would deny that Josh's love language was ball busting. A punch in the arm or a stern "kill yourself" meant "Hey. I love you" in Josh.
But even on the days when Josh suited up in his finest armor, stoically committing to the fictional "take-no-prisoners kinda guy" he loved to play, the undeniable beaming ray of light that was Josh Flecha always shown through the cracks. Eventually even bursting through, melting away the hard exterior and revealing a vulnerable, pure child-like sensitivity. Because the truth is Josh couldn't help but be kind. It was his true nature.
If you were lucky enough to be one of the few Josh chose as his family, you soon found out that Josh was fiercely loyal. Always the first person to fall on the sword if it meant someone else in the room making it out unscathed. Always the first to reach out and check in. Always. Something I heard echoed a lot the last few days has been "I was JUST taking to him". Because he was a great friend to so many, making the effort to stay in touch and make sure everyone was doing alright. Even if a cloud hung over his head - he was sure to give you his umbrella.

Josh, from the minute I met you, we were fast friends. You were so kind to me when I was the “new kid” at work and showed me how to navigate. I noticed right away how you lifted up everyone around you, not just in the moment, but you also checked in with people and did whatever you could to help friends in need. You had some really big obstacles to overcome, and you always rose to the challenge with kindness in your heart. We had so many good times in NYC! I’ll always remember our crazy times with friends, riding my bike to your place in Astoria, your amazing wings, riding the roller skate back to my place in Elmhurst, and our late night adventures. You might be the strongest empath I’ve ever known. You had the gift of taking on the feelings of other people and animals. You could communicate with any animal on their level, and I know how much you loved them all. You were my go-to when I knew about an animal in need. Even over the past decade when we lived in different places, you kept in touch, and we were able to visit a bunch of times. I’m sorry that I never made it down to New Orleans, and I was so excited that you we’re back in New York. The fact that you even considered coming to see me in the play I’m doing right now meant so much to me. I’m glad that you got the postcard I sent you. It always made me happy to hear from you, and I love that even when we were at different places in our lives, we always rooted for each other. The world needs more people like you who lead with their heart and who let the people around them know how much they care. I also know that you would roll your eyes about all this sappy stuff. shrug it off like it’s no big deal, and probably make fun of yourself a little. You had so much personal strength and absolutely no ego. You have touched so many, and you will always have a place in my heart. I know that you wouldn’t want anyone to cry or be in pain over losing you, and if you were here, you would stay with me until I was laughing again. It’s too hard not to cry right now, but I promise that I’ll get it together. Thank you for all of your love and support. Rest easy friend. I love you forever ❤️❤️❤️

Josh one of a kind man. I knew him from work. We had so much fun. Every time he was around he would light up the room. We joked around about everything and he always made my day. I will miss him dearly. May you rest in peace my friend
