Obituary

Anthony P. Lauro Junior, but to many friends and family, he was Tony, unexpectedly passed away in his sleep on Thursday, December 29, 2022. While he was Tony to many, he was also Hun, Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle Tony. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his four children, Anthony, David, Theresa, and Megan, their spouses Heather, Kristin, and Roberto, and of course his 6 grandchildren, Julianna, Bella, Anthony, Mikey, Emily, and Sophie. Tony was 76 years old. While Tony was born in Brooklyn, he spent most of his life growing up in New Hyde Park and eventually settled down to raise his family in Floral Park. He would spend his last days as part of a cul de sac crew in Wantagh, New York. Tony left school early to work in the jewelry business with his father, Tony “Fish” and would eventually settle into becoming a diamond setter in Manhattan, where he would make countless friends in the city and riding the rails. When he was younger he spent much of his free time, coaching his sons and daughters in baseball and softball and going bowling and golfing. Later on in his life, he still loved to golf, play cards and bingo with his friends and family and spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a huge fan of “Old Westerns” and the Mets. He always tried to make you laugh and left an impact on so many people that he met through the years. If you weren’t part of the family, he sure made you feel like you were. To paraphrase the movie “With Honors”, Tony may not have graduated high school, but he graduated life, With Honors. Tony was and is a legend in so many eyes. You will be forever loved, missed, and cherished.
