Obituary Part 1

A Tribute to a Marvelous Matriarch, Barbara Scott Farrand (October 18, 1932 - October 12, 2022) It’s easy to spot a marvelous matriarch: just look to the center of a family’s strength and you will see her. Her smile wide, eyes flashing with pride, she lovingly gathers her precious children close to her and her grandchildren closer, encircling them with her strong, capable arms. She builds a warm nest for her children so that they grow strong; she models positive living so that when they leave, they have the confidence to pursue their passions, while maintaining the desire to remain close to her and to one another, wherever they go. Together with her beloved husband Bill, Barbara built a warm nest for their five children and her father, John Scott: when they squeezed around their cozy Bethpage kitchen table to enjoy her delicious meals, love and animated conversation flowed abundantly like savory gravy onto a hearty slice of her famous meatloaf. This close-knit family of eight shared stories, successes, heartaches, and holidays in their beautiful home, as she enjoyed decorating with stylish flair. Friends would often comment about the stunning decor and impeccable cleanliness. She was incredibly proud to be a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother- her vocation.

Obituary Part 2

Barbara was a beloved wife to her late husband William, and the cherished mother of Christine DeMartino, Lawrence Murphy (Carol), Barbara Walsh (Brian), Kathryn Mooney (Jay), and Elizabeth Roemer (Scott). She is adored by her thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her nieces, nephews, and friends. She was a loving sister to her late brother Matthew Scott (Dolores) and her late sister Carole Reisman. Every family should be so blessed to have a matriarch as elegant, dignified, and resolute as Barbara Scott Farrand at their loving center. While her vibrant presence will be missed, her legacy will live on through her family, the crown jewel of her matriarchy. Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 16th, 2:00- 6:00 pm at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Homes, 603 Wantagh Ave. (Exit 28N SS PWKY) Wantagh, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, 11:15 am, at St. Frances De Chantal Church, Wantagh. Interment to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Cemetery. www.osheafuneral.com
