Obituary

Louis J. Rukab was born on April 27, 1963 in Jerusalem. He was the first in his family to come to the United States, at just 23 years old. After traveling along the East Coast for a few years, Louis settled in New York. He quickly became a proud New Yorker and even prouder American, but always stayed true to his Arabic roots through his love of food, music, and family traditions. Louis was as resilient as they come, he was a long-haul truck driver after all. He instilled that drive early on in his two children, Jack and Claudia, who were his greatest accomplishments and with whom he shared some of his most favorite joys, particularly boating and cars (both his children could drive before they could walk!). While his first love may have been the road, what Louis treasured most was time spent with his family. He loved weekends playing in the pool with his two granddaughters, Mia and Cora, and would do just about anything to see smiles on their faces -- even bringing a live animal farm to their house. Louis' love, and the love for Louis, spans miles. He will be forever missed by his children, Jack and Claudia, granddaughters Mia and Cora, wife Jennifer and her daughter Juliana, mother Diamond, sister Abir, brothers Sam and Johny, nieces Ashley, Janeen, Angelina, and Leila, nephews Joey and Jacob, and a large extended family and countless friends. The road does not end here for Louis and his legacy.
