Our 45 year friendship ran deep, and I can honestly say that I would have trusted him with my life. I never heard anyone say a bad word about him He was my Best Man when Pat and I got married and I can think of no better title for him - he was the best! He loved Karen, Brian, Michele, Kathleen and family and was proud of each of them. The addition of two beautiful granddaughters was icing on the cake.
Jimmy was my Chief of Staff when I was Hempstead's Presiding Supervisor and as such was the steadying hand in town government. No matter how difficult or seemingly impossible the task, he never ran away from a problem and his reputation earned him the respect, admiration and love of our town employees. Jimmy had a great sense of humor, a trait I loved about him, and people used to say that it was the first time in a long time that they heard laughter heard coming from our offices on the 4th floor.
He was thoughtful, kind-hearted and the best friend anyone could ever hope for. His loyalty was steadfast and his sense of right and wrong made him a giant in my eyes. He was an honorable man and I was so very fortunate to have him as my best friend. While these last few years were really tough on Jimmy, Karen and his family, he handled it with his hallmark dignity, courage and grace and we will all miss him terribly. Till we meet again JR, rest in peace.

Jimmy was a very special man. He was kind and thoughtful and he genuinely cared about people. He was a true friend. He was very competent and reliable - always ready and willing to help others - always supportive and loyal to his friends. Our hearts and prayers go out to his beloved wife, Karen and family. His grand daughters were the joy of his life. He was devoted to all of them. May all the happy memories of Jimmy help during this difficult time. He shall be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to know him.

I have known Jim Richards and his family for more than 25 years. My first impression of him was that he seemed like a gentle. Kind and thoughtful man. I found him very easy to talk to. He was a good listener and gave you advice and direction when you talked to him. Jim wasn’t a loud outspoken person. I felt he was shy but approachable. He had a great smile and a great personality. Jim always made you feel important and that your thoughts or ideas mattered. Jim has a great family. His wife Karen and his children equally shared the same qualities that Jim had.
I will always remember the great times we had when we worked on the candidates breakfast every year. It was a lot of work but Jim along with the other volunteer club members made it fun. I lost touch with Jim after I resigned from the club and then retired from the town. I will always cherish all the times we worked on the campaigns etc. I was sorry to hear of his passing. He is now in a place where there is no pain or suffering. Our deepest sympathies to the Richards Family. God bless you and may he give you the strength you need to help you thru this difficult time. Thanks for the memories. Rest In Peace. You and your family will be close in our thoughts and prayers
