'Uncle Joe',, how fortunate we were to have you in our family. You always bought fun and smiles to our gatherings.
Our last visit to you in your house was a very special time. Your love for us was felt too.
You gently took care of our dear Aunt Doris in her final years with all of her medical needs. Your devotion and dedication to her was apparent and truly admired.
Now prayers are being said for you to be at peace and never stop smiling.
You will be deeply missed by your loved ones.
Love and prayers from "Little Margie"

When I married into the Carolan Family, I heard so many endearing stories of "Uncle Joe", but it wasn't long before I was fortunate enough to start collecting my own fond memories of a kind, humble, cheerful gentleman, with a wonderful sense of humor, who loved people and had a special connection with children----the uncle who could take his thumb off! Uncle Joe, you were a light in our world and forever in our hearts. Love, Chrissy Carolan

My Mom and I were talking the other day. Through her tears, she recalled some happy memories. “You only knew him as Uncle Joe, but he was my big brother.”
True, I didn’t know him for 91 years, but I have known him for the past 62 as my uncle, and through the eyes of those he cherished – his parents, siblings, Aunt Doris, Mary, Pat, Faith, Sean, Kianna and Mary Clare. He brought joy wherever he went. The jokes and the twinkle in his eye made everyone in his presence feel welcomed. Yes, he will be missed by so many.

When I was in first grade, my teacher assigned an in-classroom project and asked us to write about our best friend. When it was my turn to tell the class about my best friend, I told them all about Joey. No one had any idea who I was talking about. I attended a small, private school with two classrooms per grade. Everyone knew everyone and no one could figure out who Joey was. From the moment I could talk, he was always Joey, never grandpa. He was my lifelong best friend and my hero. This is a profound loss - not only for me and for my family, but for this world. Joey is the type of man that every boy should aspire to be. He served our great country in WW2 when he was just a teen, and earned a Bronze Star for his bravery. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will remain irreplaceable in our hearts - Love Faithy

Dear Uncle Joe, You made our family gatherings one that I always looked forward to as a young boy. You were always fun to be with, and I always remember the airplane rides. Your extreme heroism was exhibited in helping conquer the evils of Hitler. The world was a better place with you on it, and I will miss you greatly. Your nephew, Peter C
