Joseph Leccese…WSC’s deadly shortstop #4…
Just learned that he passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2021…
I knew him when I, Frederick Pickering, played softball for the Metro Washington Assoc. for the Deaf (MWAD) against his team, WSC…sometimes during the 1970s-1990s. He played softball as well as played basketball for the Union League for the Deaf Club, NYC, aggressively in every second…with his pleasant smile…carried the golden “Luck” horseshoe on his necklace…(correct me if I’m wrong)…
Stephanie, Nicole, Peter, and Angelo…Please accept my condolence of passing your loved husband and your DAD, Joseph…

No words can express how sad I am with Joe Lecesse’s sudden departure. It did not afford me the opportunity to say good bye. Thought I would see him again after COVID19. I met Joe years ago as a teen when he stopped by with Nicole in tow at a family’s home we were at. My heart breaks for Stephanie, Nicole, Peter and Angelo. Hope they find the strength cope with the loss. Grieving will take a good while but as one would say, “Time heals.” Joe has certainly gained wings and he will be looking after his wife and children. Stephanie, Nicole, Peter and Angelo - You are in my prayers and thoughts and cherish all the good memories you have of Joe. Hugs to you all!

I knew Joe when he was a softball player for Westchester and Staten Island Club of the Deaf softball. We had a lot of fun, especially after the games. I always think of him and the good times we had. I will miss him tremendously. I will remember him in my prayers.
With deepest sympathy,
Charles Maucere
Former manager of Staten Island Club of the Deaf Softball Team.

Daddy,
You are my first love and hero. I knew you were going to be my favorite person. As you can see from the picture when I was a baby (posted here) I knew I would look up to you and you would protect me as a father would.
I will never forget how you made others feel. You always had a smile on your face and you made your family and friends feel they were important.
You were a powerful force in life and your departure shook my world. I will carry you in my heart forever and remember you the way you carried yourself.
I miss you so much Daddy!
Love always,
Your baby girl Nicole Marie
