Dienamarie was a beautiful and loving young lady. She always had a beautiful smile on her face whenever you saw her. We knew Dienamarie and her family when Dienamarie was a little girl because she was a playmate of our daughter, Lea. The girls attended Gymboree classes together, attended birthdays together and had play dates very often. Throughout the years our paths began to cross. Whenever we went to the AMC movies, we were greeted often by Dienamarie’s beautiful smile! During that time she expressed to us her desire to become an art teacher. She told us she was a substitute teacher in some LI schools, in hope that she would be offered a full time position. As it turns out, my sister Debbie, who was a teacher at Island Trees, mentioned to me one day that there was a substitute teacher who was very sweet, had beautiful red hair, was very competent and always had a smile on her face. She tried to get her to take over her class, when she was absent, because she knew the children would do the assigned work with her. I asked Debbie her name and she said, “Dienamarie!” I was so pleasantly surprised but immediately smiled and felt good because I knew it had to be the Dienamarie we knew. But our paths crossed again! Speaking to Dienamarie, she expressed her love for teaching children, and she wanted to teach children to appreciate and love “art”!
These last years we prayed for her full recovery but G-d had other plans for her. And now we are left with her beautiful memory! Dienamarie we will miss your beautiful smile, your caring personality and you will never be forgotten! You will always have a special place in our hearts!
To Leanna, Jimmy, Vinnie, Jeannine and Rob, our thoughts, prayers and hearts are with you. May the love that Dienamarie left you help you through this difficult time.
Love, Alma, Joel, Lea and Justin

Dienamarie Giaquinto and I met in 7th grade at 12 years old being in the same Girl Scout troop. We became friends right away. I have memories of going on the Girl Scout trips together such as Boston and from 7th-12th grade sitting together at every meeting. We stayed in touch and would talk here and there and try to see each other to catch up in person when I would come home to Long Island from college and as we were older when I would go up to New York from Florida where I moved. We would talk about Disney and teaching . She was always so talented, so determined, so kind and compassionate. I will always remember how she made me my bridal shower hat that I still have today and attended my Bat Mitzvah and about 15 years later my wedding . This world has lost such a genuine and strong person.

Diena was truly the very best of us as Sigmas at Pratt, as a person and a human being who walked the talk in all areas of life. As we all transitioned to different titles and stages, she was the glue that kept us together as a band of sisters. She has been there for the highs and lows but her sweet spirit beamed brightly through it all. And as always pearls of wisdom in her advice. I will miss our talks together catching up on life. Though I enjoyed making her laugh with my commentary on pop culture, adventures of motherhood, and teaching art in public schools. Words can not express the loss this world is now experiencing without Dienamarie in it. It was my honor to have you be my friend and to love you as my sister. I will miss you.

I could think of no better way to honor Dienamarie. When words fail, music has always been my voice. When I think back, I remember 2 things - her smile and a rock. The first needs no explanation. Growing up around her I realize made me a better human being. You couldn't help but smile when she was around. Her own smile was infectious. I can still feel the bright, buoyant energy she brought to every occasion. She had a love of the creative arts, a kindred spirit if ever there was one.
And then there's the rock.
It was a gift that she gave everybody in our kindergarten class. Mine was a long black stone with googly eyes. I kept it long into my college years in my desk. It got lost at some point, but the parallels are astounding. You see, Dienamarie, as far as I remember, individualized each rock and had in mind every person as she made them. It wasn'tan arbitrary gift. She was like that. She SAW you. You mattered. She was a rock in her own right, constantly fighting, constantly and vigilantly caring for others even when she was battling her own fights. Her faith was a rock. Her love of family and friends was a rock. Solid. Strong. Ensuring. That rock, though lost to me physically is still here on earth somewhere. It's memory and what that rock meant is etched in my soul.
Dienamarie, I love you kid. Even if I only saw you once in a blue moon as we got older, you were so valued, so very much an integral part of my early life. May you be at peace now and know that I for one, will never forget how you lived. I hope one day when we meet again that I can say that I learned the lesson your life taught.

Dienamarie was so full of life, with such vitality as to light up a room!
She was so very uniquely talented and artistic.
She was so very kind and caring.
She was so precious in her earnest and honest belief in God, and in everything she did; so very giving of herself and most thoughtful of others.
And who could ever forget that beautiful smile that she graced us all in daily life whenever we chance to meet. We still remember that young inquisitive, bouncing ball of energy that just wouldn’t stop. That laughter that resonated throughout, excited about everything in life! We won’t forget Dienamarie, if only because she was such a beautiful human being, in heart and in spirit. We have all benefited by having had known her. We can honestly say that about her. Rest in Peace Dienamarie, beloved daughter, sister and friend to us all.
Our heartfelt condolences and God’s blessings to her family, Nilda, Frank and Damien Pacheco

Dienamarie - so much to say ... I met Dienamarie (or as I would call her “D”) when her sister Jeannine (one of my best friends) got engaged. D was obv the maid of honor and reached out to all the bridesmaids to introduce herself and begin planning festivities.
From the start D and I got along great. Our friendship grew as her and I would email and text daily about ideas for various wedding events. Eventually our texts were about life and how things were going. By the end of the wedding planning and celebrations... she was no longer my friends sister but my friend as well.
She was an amazing person with a heart of gold. She excelled in everything she did and worked several jobs from teachers assistant, Mary Kay rep, art instructor - you name it she did it. She was the most upbeat positive person I have ever met. Her smile and presence could light up a room. She was creative, thoughtful, kind, smart, beautiful, religious, and the strongest woman. She was a FIGHTER and she was brave.
Im beyond thankful to have met Dienamarie and call her my friend. She has no doubt had a profound impact on my life as well as all that knew her. That’s who she was. No one deserves to go through what D did.... but I KNOW she is in a better place now. Smiling down at us all in her beautiful floral summer dress and Kentucky derby style hat, with a fruity drink with an umbrella in it finally at peace.
I will never forget D and the memories we have made. I feel blessed to have known her. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. ♥️

She was teaching art without an art room. I remember that she was teaching Still Life Drawing with water colors. It took her an enormous effort to prepare and to set up to provide this unique opportunity for our students. I am sure the students remember the experience. Whether it was displaying the students' work at Nassau County Art event or preparing for the Home Coming Parade, she put her heart into it. She loved being an art teacher. Rest in peace.
