Dear Terri, Greta & Children: We are so terribly sorry to hear about the passing of Randy. Randy was a gentleman who I had great respect for as he had for me. I still remember when we moved right next door to the Tom family. Terri & Greta were over that day & brought us a baked cake to welcome Margaret & I to the neighborhood. What a wonderful gesture from them. We never know when the Lord will call us to leave our earthly life. I am positively sure that Randy is in Heaven now, away from all the worries & sufferings we have here. He had a huge soul & a love for people, always with a smile on his face, & a laugh that I still remember to this day. I bowled with his brother Doug in a League at Wantagh Lanes & we had many good times. Doug, we are so sorry to hear about Randy's passing. In closing, we would like to say: Our life here on earth is a very short passing of time. Jesus taught us that we should love one another as he loves us. for he is the Way, The Truth, & the Life, along with Our Blessed Mother Mary in Heaven. God Bless all of the Tom family.
Love, George & Margaret Linkus

I’m so sorry to hear about your Randy. Mrs. Tom this is most awful losing your son. Nothing worse than losing a child. All the years our families were so tight. My parents at your parties and all of you were very special to us as neighbors on Wildflower Lane forever. My sincere condolences to you, your children and his cousins. Have said many prayers for all . Love Donnalee

Rest in Peace friend, I did not know you well, but you took me under your wing after knowing I was John's cousin and taught me how to shoot pool! I'd run into you here and there and we'd exchange pleasantries, never thinking it'd be our last. So no we were not friends, but friendly and you were always kind, a great pool shot, my condolences to your wife and children, I will pray for all of them rest in peace and thank for what you taught me.

Randy played lacrosse for MacArthur HS. I had the pleasure of coaching him as one of the best defensive midfielders I ever coached. Great attitude and determination. Boy could he run. He would play against the best midfielder on the other team and hold him to very few scores. Rest in peace.

Randy, your unique blend of wit and sarcasm, along with your love for gadgets quickly cemented our friendship. With a lot of common ground (and your threats to charge me for being in the family photos I was taking) we had a lot to talk about at family gatherings. You kept us smiling whenever you were around. You will forever be missed.
Love,
Randy Gilbert

I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my condolences.
When we are grieving the loss of a loved one, we can find comfort from the scriptures. I found a couple scriptures at jw.org.
Psalm 55:22 promises that God will sustain us if we just throw our burdens on him. So we need to remember to pray.
I look forward to seeing him in the resurrection when he will again be enjoying friends/family. (John 5:28,29).
I hope these scriptures bring you as much comfort as they bring me.

Randy was my first friend when I moved to Wantagh from Brooklyn in 1954. We lived five houses apart on Wildflower Lane. We were close and walked to Gardiners Ave. Elementary School every day. We had a lot of fun running between our houses and just hanging out. I was always impressed with how artistic Randy was drawing his own comic books when we were kids. We played pool at his house and Randy became quite accomplished at the game. Living so close to Randy I got to know his incredible family, including all the relatives. I learned to speak some Chinese and ate some amazing Chinese food! To the Tom family, I was shocked to learn of Randy’s passing and I am so sorry for your loss. Randy was a wonderful person with a great sense of humor, he will be missed.

So sorry to hear that Randy is no longer with us. There are so many memories from when you lived across the street from us. I remember Randy was the first person we met when we were moving in to our house. I think he was driving a van then. Always loved when he would make it look like he was yelling at the kids for something when he really wasn't. Too many memories to list, but they were all good! Great person and neighbor.

John and Elisa Lombardi
