I worked with Bob for years at Chase. He was my oracle concerning the credit card system. Bob was a meticulous programmer who safeguarded the card system as if it was his own. When we moved to Delaware to take the Chase card national, we were literally adding millions of accounts. But new accounts with the suffix “Jr” we’re systemically rejected. I immediately contacted Bob who told me the rejections were correct. His explanation was that “Jr” is NOT a suffix. It is part of the name given at birth. Suffixes are added later in life, such as “Sr, MD, etc.). He was right! But I asked him to remove the rejection code for Jr. in order to expedite the booking of accounts. Rarely wrong, always helpful, it was a pleasure to know him, work with him and call him friend.
