I knew Lois when I was a kid. Back then I called her Ma.She was truly an inspiration. She was never too busy if someone needed her. She was someone you could talk to about anything. I will miss her terribly.

I first met "Momma D" through the Christian Reform Youth Group and for a few years was very close to members of the family. She always was ready to provide a heart warming hug, a smile and a laugh that brightened up you day. Not to forget the words of faith that helped me get through a horrible situation in my life. I will always hold her, Nancy, Mike (Dingo), Marc and Jeremiah in my heart.

"Mom" was an amazing and vibrant woman who practiced what she preached. She was strong, supportive, loving, compassionate, genuine and would give you the swift kick in the pants when you needed it! Thank you for being there for me, for guiding me with your love, honesty and faith and for treating me as if I was your own. May you rest in eternal peace, Mom. I love you.
Marc, Nancy, Mike, Jeremiah and your families,
Words aren't adequate to express my deepest sorrow for your loss. I'm sending you all prayers for strength, peace and lots of love. She touched so many lives and left her mark wherever she went.
Love you all,
Dawn Marie (Hoffmann) Cardo

When I moved to E. Islip 51 yrs ago...Lois was the neighbor who came down with a pot of coffee to greet us! From that day on..she has been a close friend who I could share hours talking together about family, life, God and even Trump!
I will dearly miss you Lois...we had history together and a part of me left when God took you home.
To the family.. I am so sorry for your loss and may God give you peace during this difficult time.

I was fortunate enough to meet Lois while working at Southside Hospital. She was a true original, open, warm and friendly. Her laugh was loud and raucous and contagious. Lois was one of those rare persons who was exactly what you saw. There was no prevarication or subtext to her .
She was so proud of her children, grandchildren and whole family.
Although we didn’t see each other often, I considered her a true friend and will dearly miss her. I am so sorry for your loss.
