Uncle Ray was my Godfather and as a little girl I thought he was the most handsome man I ever saw. I remember the story about him passing out at his wedding and Uncle Lawrence jumping over the Alter rail to catch him. When I was grown and married, I lived in Malverne and saw him and Aunt Phyllis quite often. He had gone up in his law enforcement career from an Officer to the Chief of Police. When I lost my daughter Carolyn, he was there for me on that terrible day...he knew her, he loved her, and he was there for us as we went through the most terrible time a 22 year old mother could have. I will always remember that he called me "Bob" as most of my Uncles did...he also had the most beautiful smile and happy laugh. He did wonderful things for our town and was very approachable by all of the families living there. Over the years I have always thought of him when I thought about the Garrigan Family as I looked at old black and white photos. I say now, "Sleep in heavenly peace, Uncle Ray and watch over the Garrigan Clan always."
