My Dear friend Cynthia..to this day I miss your beautiful smile, we always enjoyed collaborating on a problem and coming up with ideas to better solve an issue..i will never forget the time you joked that they should move my desk into your office! I miss you my dear friend..why does God take the good ones? I guess we don't really know the answer. Rest in peace dearest Cynthia.

Cynthia.. I will always remember you with your kind and friendly smile. You always made time for me at work and helped me with such patience, kindness and always smiling. You shared a few funny stories that showed your sharp wit. Your stories made me smile and chuckle. You always put me at ease at work and I knew I could depend on you whenever I needed help. I know others have said the same because you were truly a special person that went out of your way to help anyone who needed. it. You will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune, pleasure and joy to have you be apart of their lives.
Thank you Cynthia for all you have done and you will never be forgotten. Much love to you and your family .. always. <3 <3

I did not know Cynthia that well, to even say I knew her personally at all. I handle the health insurance and group benefits for the company that employed her. She was always so nice to me when I went there, and when I was told about her passing I was very saddened by the news. Once a year I would go to her office to present the medical benefits and she always stood out to me as being one of those nice, warm people that you truly enjoy speaking to. I know her work family is devastated, and I can only hope and pray that she had family that loved her as much as her co workers did. I am very sorry for your loss, and I hope I am not being too forward by commenting, but I felt I had to as I clearly remember her and will truly miss her when I go to her employer this year. May god bless you and your family during this difficult time.

While I only knew Cynthia very briefly, she made a very deep and positive impression on me. She was good people. She was extremely kind and often funny and a pleasure to be around. She was such a positive influence on so many people at DH. She took her role as elder stateswoman seriously and was a strong mentor to many people. Her work family will miss her very much. Our thoughts are with the Mutell family as they go through this difficult time. Rest in peace, Cynthia Mutell.

My depest condolences to the Mutell family.
Cynthia was not only a coworker. She was a mentor, friend, and work mom. One of the most whole hearted, kind, and loving people I have ever met. Not a mean bone in her and while I am sure she would get frustrated, she never showed it (NOT EVEN WHEN DEALING WITH THE MOST IRATE CLIENTS!). She was the type of person I wish I could be.
Another thing she always was, was influential. She guided me and gave me advice on everything and anything. From work to life advice! And somehow, even though she’s gone, she still has an influence on my life.
I will miss walking in the office saying “Hey! Yes yes I know, hey is for horses” and hearing her say “haha my grandfather used to say that all the time...hey is for horses” like clockwork. I will also miss hearing her stories and all of our conversations about everything and anything.
She was one of my very few go-to people for just about anything because she knew just about everything and exactly what to say or do! You could toss her the worst situation and she would be able to handle it, no matter what. Working with her was the best and I am so thankful for that.
Cynthia, thank you for being the most influential person I've ever met, for accepting and loving everyone, and for being someone that impacted the lives of so many. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. You may be gone but you will not soon be forgotten.

Cynthia was the best big sister who was always there for me no matter what was going on in her world. Taking care of everyone came second nature to her. I will miss her beautiful smile and our wonderful phone conversations during my drives back from Long Island. She could always find the humor in life and I will miss her dearly.

My deepest condolences to the Mutell family. Cynthia was both a colleague and a friend, and she was funny and so generous of both her knowledge and her time. She was a fellow GOT fan, and I will be so sad next month to not be able to share the highlights of the show with her. Cynthia's humor was the best - intelligent and witty - and kept me constantly laughing over emails, slack, the phone and in meetings, she always had the perfect quip. She would always say, "See Ayanna, I love you because you get my humor!" What I appreciated most were her stories of both motherhood and childhood. We would swap stories, share similarities and the differences, and laugh about what we did then and what we do now. My children are young and so I always appreciated the stories that she shared so that I had proof there was light at the end of the tunnel. She spoke about her husband and children with such humor, pride and admiration that I felt like I knew them too. What a huge loss for all of us, but especially for the Mutell family. May Cynthia forever be with you in your heart and in your head; may the memory of her voice comfort you and the memory of her laughter lift you in the darkest moments. I will miss her and I will not forget her -- she was just that special.
Lovingly submitted,
Ayanna Spurlock Shackelton
