Peter Staltare entered into eternal peace on Saturday February 9, 2019 , in Largo, Florida, of natural causes. He was 82. Pete was born in New York City. His parents, Carmelo and Mary, had 8 children and he was loved by his siblings very much. He served in the United States Army as a Private First Class for 3 years before marrying his sweetheart, Mary Yorio, in 1960. Shortly thereafter, Pete and Mary celebrated the births of their first two children and moved to East Meadow in 1964, where they welcomed their third child, a year later. Pete worked for the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority and later for the Grumman Company. He retired in the early 90’s. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, fishing and spending quality time with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren. He always had a joke to tell and loved to make his family and friends laugh with his funny stories and clever puns. He was adored by everyone who knew him. In his later years, Pete and Mary spent their time between Florida and New York, and had many friends in both places. They were married for 57 years until Mary passed in 2017. Since then, Pete spent most of his time surrounded by his six grandchildren, Michelle, Gabrielle, Victoria, Lauren, Alex and Peter. He is also survived by his children, Maria, Anthony and Valerie, their partners Joseph, Barbara and Michael, and his siblings, Sonny, Mary, Rose, Joseph and Michael.
