In 1988, I was his student at Stuyvesant HS. I recall asking him to name his favorite musical. He took his time to answer. It was "Fiddler on The Roof." I did not share his opinion at the time, I preferred something flashier, but as I get older, I agree. I think of him each time I hear that score. Sunrise, Sunset.

Mr. Grasso went out of his way to let me use the school camera after hours. Keep in mind we're talking 1993 when access to technology was very limited and it was based on his kindness and availability. He was always generous with his time and experiences and he was instrumental in my development as a young artist.

What a truly lovely man he was. I will always remember the light and love he brought to theater and to us at Stuy.

Mr. Grasso was my drama teacher all four years at Stuyvesant. I lucked out and made it into the musical (West Side Story, Fall ‘97) and did it every year. To be honest, I’d thought for so long about looking him up and I don’t know what held me back, but knowing he passed only a few months ago just makes it so bittersweet to find this. He was a wonderful teacher and a wonderful man and I am so eternally grateful for all he gave me, all he gave all of us. I was blessed to know him. My deepest condolences go out to your family.

Dear Anthony, Roxanne, Laurie, and Vinnie (and all members of your families), I will always have such fond memories of my "NY visits" and my "Brooklyn family", especially Uncle Vinnie (who when with Aunt Peg) would always share such fabulous stories with me; my love for the arts and theater is due to both of them (altho, I sadly share no such talents like they had -- how truly, truly talented Vinnie was and how I loved his shows!). I know Uncle Vinnie is now in God's arms, with his beloved Geri, choreographing, designing, and decorating! May your hearts be filled with the great memories that mine is and May God Speed, Love Cousin Lory

Dear Laurie, Roxanne, Anthony and Vincent,
I send me deepest and most heartfelt condolences. I'm so very sorry. I have the fondest of memories of your dad and all the shows he and your mom did with my parents and all the shows he and Eleanor did with us as kids. He was truly a creative soul. I wish the entire family comfort and peace during this sad time. I will be praying for all of you.
Love,
Jeanine Restivo
