I spent a lot of time with Sal jr. growing up...We were about 14 or 15 years old, the Bologna home was the “safe house” for all the guys. It was the meeting place for us. We were a group of about six friends. We were ALWAYS welcome in their home no matter what time of day it was. I remember when Sonny would come home. He would greet us all like we were part of the clan. He was always cheerful and upbeat when I was in his presence. Most every time I saw him he was sporting some kind of band aid, wrist band, sling, or splint... It did not slow him down. He was full of energy.
Many years later my mother in law and her husband told me about their new friend that helped them fix and upgrade their Westbury apartment. They found out I was friends of the family. The two of them loved him as a person. Sometimes they would sit and talk over a coffee and cookie after he finished a project.
Sonny was a good guy. He kept a good family. May you Rest In Peace sir.
