Today I found out that one of my very best friends passed on recently. Something called me to search his name, & there he was.
I met Joe back in grammar school. I think it was 1959. I was walking through the hall & BAM...I was hit in the back by a history book thrown out of a classroom by none other than Joe Hart, who was splitting his sides in laughter. We became immediate friends from that day on......We fished together, we drank together (after we graduated grammar school, but not too too much later) hitting all the bars & night spots for years.....having 'fun' with the hundreds of girls we met.....We both loved to dance & early on we went to all the local dances at schools close by, & later all through high school.....We scuba dived together, & poached lobster pots below the Atlantic Beach Bridge to enjoy at our feasts on the beach....We were on a beach the day the Astronauts landed on the moon enjoying some of our delectable plunder in '69.
Last I saw Joe was probably around 1999-2000......We spoke a few times on the phone after that, but at the time I was living in Florida for a few years, & I rarely if ever had occasion to visit New York being my family all lived in Florida by that time.
I'll miss him very much, but I will never forget all the great times we had growing up together. We were a pair of mischievous pranksters, & we fed off of trying to out do each other. Joe usually always won...... Joe had a good soul....he was a special guy, very caring & outgoing, who regardless of his difficult times taking care of his Mom & Dad during his early years, he always kept himself on the brighter side of life all the time I knew him!
Well, enjoy a Flamin' Hennessy for me fella, 'till we meet again!!!
