I knew your mom way before she came to work for me at Phoenix. She was working for a Norwegian shipping firm. I enjoyed dealing with her as a client, and when my secretary at the time relocated to Florida, Vivian was the first one I thought of to replace her. I am not even sure how many years she worked with me and my dad, but it was quite some time and we had a wonderful relationship and enjoyed her presence in the office. I always recall her sense of humor, which was as dry as a glass of Sherry, She was always present through her emails, which I miss already. It is always difficult to lose one's mother, but Vivian will live on in you, your family and all the memories that you have, that is what the journey of life is all about in the end. I think of the words of Victor Hugo, last volume, last chapter, last page, last paragraph, of Les Misérables, thinking back on the life of a warm and generous soul, with a bit of poetic license:
Elle vivait et maintenant elle dort,
Elle mourut quand elle n'eut plus son ange.
La chose simplement d'elle-même arriva,
Comme la nuit se fait lorsque le jour s'en va.
She lived and now she sleeps,
She died when she had no longer her angel.
It happened so simply in and of itself,
As night falls when day departs..
I know your mom is with your dad for eternity.
Requiescat in Pace.
