Karen Ann Lala, 72, passed from this life Monday, December 28, 2015. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Anna (Culkin) Savoldy. Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. A vivacious and adventurous woman, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and socializing with friends. She had a positive attitude and always lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed making people happy and giving back to others. Her wish was to become a therapy clown, bringing joy and smiles to sick children. Karen fulfilled her dream of moving to The Villages, with her husband Angelo, in 2012. With Angelo, she led an active life in the community and traveled the world. Her favorite destination was the Amalfi Coast in Italy. She enjoyed various cuisines and cultures and loved to share stories of her travels. Karen leaves her husband, Angelo, her children, Margaret McDonnell-Tiberio (August) of Wantagh, NY; John O'Brien (Miriam) of Wappingers Falls, NY; Daniel O'Brien (Anne) of North Salem, NY; Patricia Guldner (Robert) of Eastchester, NY; five grandchildren, Katharine and Thomas McDonnell, Ashley O'Brien, Jeremy and Elizabeth Guldner; step-children, Catherine McGregor (Victor) of Saugerties, NY; Joseph Lala (Janet) of Wilmington, DE; Robert Lala (Angie) of Germany; Ann Marie Lala-Genova of Huntington Bay, NY; twelve step-grandchildren, Fiona McGregor, Aimee Milligan, Kristin Ricciuto, Joseph, Andrew, and Katherine Lala, Michael, David, and Jonathan Lala, Olivia and John Genova; three step-great grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Savoldy (Barbara); and sister, Susan Smith (Gary). She loved and doted on her dogs, Koko and the late Tootsie. The family will welcome relatives and friends at a visitation, Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, FL from 2 to 5 PM.
